On May 22, Bryan ISD announced Amy Thomman would be transitioning from her current role as Principal of Johnson Elementary School into a new role as Principal of Ross Elementary School. Ms. Thomman has successfully led Johnson for the last six years and is looking forward to taking the helm of Ross Elementary. This decision comes after Danielle Legg’s move to a district-level support position.
Ms. Thomman has 19 years of experience in education as a teacher, an assistant principal, and a principal. Of those years, they have all been spent in Bryan ISD with two years at Houston Elementary and the rest at Johnson Elementary. She was a teacher for 10 years before moving into the Assistant Principal position at Johnson in 2011 and then Principal in 2019. She said she is excited about this new opportunity to lead the Ross Raccoons.
Thomman shared, “my goals are to lean in, roll up my sleeves, and do what we love doing every single day with a group of educators who share that same love.” She also stated that she plans to leverage the momentum already in place at Ross Elementary.
Ms. Thomman is a product of Bryan ISD. She attended Johnson Elementary as a student and graduated from Bryan High School. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University and is an active member of our community.
“It’s always a special moment when we get to celebrate leadership transitions that reflect the strength and talent within our Bryan ISD family. Amy has poured her heart into Johnson Elementary for the past 17 years, and her dedication to students, staff, and families has been nothing short of inspiring,” Bryan ISD Superintendent Ginger Carrabine said. “Danielle Legg is committed to a seamless transition as the Ross Raccoons welcome Ms. Amy Thomman.”
