Bryan ISD Earns Highest Financial Accountability Rating for 18 Years in a Row!

The rating comes on the heels of TEA giving the district its highest academic rating yet

For the 18th year in a row, Bryan ISD has earned the state’s highest financial accountability rating.

The Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) measures school districts’ financial accountability system, and Bryan ISD has received an “A,” or “Superior Achievement,” rating for the 18th year.

Led by the Board of Trustees and administrators who work directly with these numbers, the district has received the top rating every year the system has been in place.

“We are very pleased with Bryan ISD’s School FIRST rating,” Bryan ISD Superintendent Ginger Carrabine said. “This rating shows our district is making the most of our taxpayers’ dollars. This rating shows that Bryan ISD’s schools are accountable not only for student learning, but also for achieving these results cost-effectively and efficiently.”

The Superior Achievement rating demonstrates the quality of the district’s financial management and reporting system. The system measures multiple state, local and federal metrics to determine the ratings based on how well districts meet each metric.

This A rating comes on the heels of the district receiving its highest academic accountability rating since TEA introduced its current accountability system in 2018. In August, the district learned it had earned an overall rating of a B (86), which included an A (92) for College, Career and Military Readiness. The district also recorded a 91% graduation rate.

The recent financial ratings are preliminary and are expected to be official in the coming weeks.
