Ross Elementary students were among more than 1,600 elementary and intermediate school students who visited Prairie View A&M for the annual Elementary School Day.

The day is organized by the university's Office of K-12 Strategic Partnerships and Outreach.

Students from Bryan, Hearne, Brenham, Hempstead, Houston, Spring, Channelview, Goose Creek and Louisiana toured the university community and learned about the opportunities the university provides and the careers available to them.

“Elementary Day is important because we impact kids’ lives as early as six years old. Some have never been to a college campus or know anyone with a college degree. After seeing our beautiful campus, and interacting with our college professors, some of our undergraduate students shared their journeys from elementary school. The experience will be etched in their brains, and they know this can become a reality,” Dr. Talitha Lewis, director of Strategic Partnerships and K-12 Outreach, said.
